Tomasini Training Center Teaching the Language of Lightness

Training horses and their riders to move with softness and self carriage is the goal of the Tomasini Training Center. Horse Trainer and clinician, Susan Tomasini focuses on the Cowboy Dressage mission of training and riding with a "soft feel". Susan defines soft feel as "the language of lightness in the conversation between horse and rider".  All of Susan's lessons, clinics and training reflect this "language of lightness".

Susan herself is a founding partner of Cowboy Dressage World. Susan has been apart of the equestrian world since she was 18. The Hoosier Horse Fair & Expo is a 3 day fair & expo celebrating and promoting the equine industry. Traditionally held in April, the event includes horse demonstrations, live entertainment, educational presentations by nationally renowned horse clinicians and trainers, 4-H competitions and other youth activities, ranch rodeo and a large trade show.

          A few points about horses and springtime 

Be sure your horses continue to have unlimited access to ample water. Tank heaters are good insurance against colic and dehydration

Remember that one day can be warm, even balmy. . . the next full blown winter yet again. Continue to provide shelter from the elements

Do your horse’s feet need attention?

Spring worming and vaccinations are a good idea.  This is also a good time to have a thorough dental exam performed on your horse and take corrective action as necessary.  Deterioration in health and body condition of older horses can often be traced to improper dental care so they should receive particular attention.

Horses can handle cold and they can handle wet, but not both at the same time. If you live in such conditions, shelter is important. When it is cold horses need to eat hay to stay warm. Unlimited grass hay is optimum

Stallions and geldings develop beans that obstruct urination. Learn how to check for this condition

Tuning up your tack makes for a great winter/spring project. Clean your blankets, pads, girths, and tack.  Do a close inspection of worn leather parts and replace if in question. Both you and your horses will be real happy about this come spring
 
Warm-up in the spring is of utmost importance as horses can be quite frisky especially if not ridden for an extended period. 

Saddling up and climbing right on is not recommended. My safety system,  is the focus of my Discover the Horse You Never Knew DVD and Gentle Solutions Book. This logical sequence of exercises puts you in charge and that leadership follows into the saddle as the horse’s energy is used constructively and brains and feet connect. 

Feel what the horse is telling you on the ground and in the saddle. Are you on the same page? Is your horse well? Are you in a good place to ride and what is your plan? The more time we spend THINKING ahead of riding, the greater our accomplishments.

The Next Going Bitless online class will start January 1st (with sign up until January 9th) running through January 30th. The first videos will be released for personal practice followed by a Skype Q&A session a week. This class is suitable for beginner (horses and riders) as well as the addition of intermediate exercises in this class for those who have done the class or are further ahead. It is suitable for all disciplines as well.

You will have the week to get signed up and review and practice the first exercises. Additional video exercises will be sent out each week with call recordings for the people who could not attend or to review info. The Skype Q&A answer session will be held Mondays at 7pm EST. If you have not downloaded Skype click here to get it. Otherwise, if you cannot make the calls or can't get Skype, You may post questions to the Blog or Email them through my Website. A member of the famed Old Timers Rodeo and Wild West Performers Club and the prestigious former Wild West Arts Club in Las Vegas, Denny has served as a mounted shooting, trick horse and trick riding clinician and performer for many major equine events including Equine Affaire in Columbus OH and the Can-Am Equine Emporium in Ontario, Canada. He has entertained at professional sporting events and has also served as the featured performer as the "Singing Cowboy" in the famous Kentucky Horse Park's "Best of the West" show.

Denny also stared in the TV Show "Top Shot" by The History Channel.

He is one of the most recognized figures in the sport of Mounted Shooting as a competitor, announcer and clinician and recently won the title of 2009 Florida State SASS Rifle and Open Class Extreme Mounted Shooting Champion. Denny has also competed within the ranks of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Reining Horse Association, the World Foundation Quarter Horse Association, the United States Team Roping Championships, and is one of the few certified male side saddle instructors in the country.


Denny is one of the most versatile equine entertainers and clinicians in North America. Having worked with more than 40 breeds of horses, He has experience in Mounted Shooting, English and Western Horsemanship, Dressage, Tandem Riding and Driving, Roman Riding, Liberty Horses, Trick Horses, Trick Riding, Fire Jumping, Dressage and High-School Horses, Mounted Trick Roping and Whip Cracking.

Denny is available on a limited basis for private/group lessons and specialty clinics. He teaches Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Horsemanship as well as the following specialties:
