A Movie for all Cowboys...."Out of the Wild" Movie

"A down and out cowboy with a painful past, Henry McBride, begins down a road of self-discovery when he is introduced to a new way of training a troubled mustang. The mustang's past and temperament mirror that of McBride's."

Does this sound like a movie you would like to see??? Well, my good friend and  horse  trainer Mark Rashid would like to see this movie, Out of the Wild a reality.
Mark, who is the writer of the book on which this movie is based is also a producer of this movie. He is very excited about this movie and is seeking funding for the movie in a new "out of the box" way.

The biggest (and really, only) hurdle Mark and the other producers have had in turning Out of the Wild into a full-length feature film has been finding investors that don't want to take total control of the project, which is something they just aren’t willing to allow. After three years of running up against the same issues with potential investors, all involved with Out of the Wild  decided to go a different route in regard to funding - A route in which they are able to retain total control of the project, while at the same time including folks like yourself, who want nothing more than to see, and maybe even be a part of, a really great horse movie.

The method they have chosen to fund their project is relatively new in the film industry, but not totally untried or without merit. Filmmakers such as Spike Lee and Zach Braff (of the TV show “Scrubs” fame) and many others have decided to forgo traditional movie financing for this new and completely “grass roots” direction known as “crowdfunding”. The way crowdfunding works is that a project’s creators set a funding goal and deadline. Then they post the project to a crowdfunding website. If people are interested in the project, they can pledge money in return for certain tangible rewards offered by the project’s creators. With enough pledges, the project gets funded.

The platform they will be using for the crowdfunding effort is a site known as Kickstarter. Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing — in fact, projects on the site must reach their funding goals within a certain amount of time to receive any money at all. All-or-nothing funding might seem scary, but it’s amazingly effective in creating momentum and rallying people around an idea. In their case, if their goal of $775,000 is reached (and hopefully exceeded) within 30 days, they can keep the money and make the movie. If they fall short of the goal by the time 30 days are up, all of the pledges by individuals who supported them will simply be null and void.

There is no question that something like this is not only risky, but that it will also take a pretty big effort in order for it to work. However, there is one thing that I know for sure is that positive energy and good old fashioned "cowboy spirit" can move mountains!!!

Please share this amazing effort with everyone you know and help my good friend Mark Rashid with this amazing project.
